Eagles Sign A.J. Epenesa, Michael Jordan
Several weeks after A.J. Epenesa‘s Browns deal fell through, the veteran edge rusher has found a new home. The Eagles signed the former second-round pick, per a team announcement.
Philadelphia has signed Epenesa and guard Michael Jordan. The team waived linebackers Chandler Martin and Isiah King to clear roster space. Epenesa will head to Philly after six years in Buffalo.
Epenesa, 27, had committed to the Browns in March but saw the team express concerns about his physical and back out of the agreement. The Iowa product then visited the Dolphins and Bears but will vie to become an auxiliary rush option for an Eagles team that has again seen some turnover at its edge-rushing spots.
The team lost Jaelan Phillips in free agency but belatedly replaced him by trading for Jonathan Greenard during the draft. Philadelphia has also taken fliers on Arnold Ebiketie and Joe Tryon-Shoyinka. The team released the unretired Brandon Graham, but that move may be procedural that and precede the franchise’s longest-tenured player returning. The Epenesa signing crowds Philly’s EDGE corps, with Nolan Smith and Jalyx Hunt in place as well. The Epenesa signing could also provide some insurance for the Eagles in case Graham does not re-sign.
Graham, 38, retired not long after Super Bowl LIX but agreed to come back in-season. The Eagles had just lost Za’Darius Smith to an in-season retirement. Graham then expressed interest at playing a 17th season. Already the only Eagle to play 16 years with the team, the 2010 first-round pick would seemingly factor into the organization’s supplementary EDGE situation, which would leave Ebiketie, Tryon-Shoyinka and Epenesa vying for limited playing time.
Playing well as an auxiliary Bills rusher from 2022-24, Epenesa only recorded 2.5 sacks last season. Buffalo consistently used Epenesa as a rotational cog, with Von Miller and then Gregory Rousseau anchoring the team’s pass rush. Epenesa tallied 6.5 sacks in 2022 and ’23, combining for 14 tackles for loss in those seasons. He then delivered a six-sack, eight-TFL 2024 to go with his only career safety. Epenesa does not have a sack in 14 career playoff games, and the Bills added Bradley Chubb in free agency before drafting Clemson edge rusher T.J. Parker in the second round.
The first- and second-most-famous Michael Jordans are unapproachable for the veteran O-lineman, but the enduring guard has continued to work as a starter at various stops. Brought in as a depth option by the Buccaneers last year, Jordan ended up starting nine of the 11 games he played. This came after he started 11 of 12 Patriots contests in 2024. Jordan was a 10-game Panthers starter in both 2020 and ’21, before serving as a 2022 Carolina backup and missing the 2023 season.
Jordan spent the 2023 season on the Packers’ practice squad and did not make the Pats or Bucs’ rosters out of training camp in the ensuing years. But the former Bengals fourth-rounder managed to move back onto each team’s roster for extended starter duty each year.
Pro Football Focus has never graded Jordan as a top-60 guard, but teams have continued to view him as a valuable backup. The Eagles return starters Landon Dickerson and Tyler Steen, though Dickerson considered retirement this offseason and missed time in 2025. Philly also drafted a guard in Round 6 (Micah Morris).

Eagles Sign LB Chandler Martin
Chandler Martin will continue his rehab in Philly. The free agent linebacker is signing a two-year deal with the Eagles, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 in Houston.
Martin earned first-team All-AAC honors during his two seasons at Memphis before going undrafted in the 2025 draft. He quickly caught on with the Ravens, and after being among the team’s final preseason cuts, he earned a role on Baltimore’s practice squad.
He spent most of the season on the taxi squad but got his way into three games with the Ravens, compiling five tackles while playing exclusively on special teams. He suffered a torn ACL in Week 13, ending his season prematurely and putting the start of his 2026 season in doubt.
The Eagles won’t have to rush Martin back from his injury considering their two-year commitment to the linebacker. Philadelphia doesn’t have a real immediate need for depth at the position. Zack Baun and Jihaad Campbell are fully entrenched atop the depth chart, while the likes of Jeremiah Trotter, Smael Mondon, and Chance Campbell will compete for backup reps. The Eagles are hoping Martin can join that grouping before the 2026 season is through.

With J.J. McCarthy close to a return from his concussion, the Vikings parted ways with Ridder. He was signed last week after McCarthy entered concussion protocol, but was not elevated to back up Max Brosmer in Week 13. That responsibility instead went to John Wolford, who remains in Minnesota.
Bishop was released by the Steelers at the beginning of November. After appearing all 17 games last year with a 50% snap share, he did not make the 53-man roster this season and remained on the practice squad. He will now join the Saints in the hopes of making his 2025 debut in New Orleans.
Ravens’ Ar’Darius Washington, Tavius Robinson Nearing Return
A May Achilles tear threatened to end Ar’Darius Washington‘s 2025 season well before it began. The Ravens defensive back has continued to make progress in his recovery, though, and another step could be coming soon. 
When speaking to the media on Monday, head coach John Harbaugh said (via The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec) there is a “good chance” Washington will take part in practice this week. The 26-year-old landed on the reserve/PUP list during roster cutdowns, and he has remained there ever since.
Washington has aimed to play late in the season, and the latest update on his situation noted a return to practice was a distinct possibility. Provided the former UDFA can indeed suit up at some point in 2025, he will provide the Ravens with another option in the secondary. Washington emerged as a starter at the end of last season, notching 64 tackles, two interceptions and eight pass deflections.
Returnee Kyle Hamilton, first-round rookie Malaki Starks and trade acquisition Alohi Gilman are in place as safety contributors right now (although since Gilman’s arrival Baltimore has used Hamilton closer to the line of scrimmage). If he is activated, Washington would provide the Ravens with a special teams presence capable of rotating in at safety as well as slot corner. As a pending free agent, Washington seeing any game time down the stretch would provide a boost to his market value.
Harbaugh also said third-year edge rusher Tavius Robinson is a candidate to return to practice in the coming days. The 26-year-old has been on IR since suffering a broken foot, an injury which led to the first missed game action of his career. Once Robinson is activated, he will be expected to return to a starting defensive role and in doing so provide the Ravens with a much-needed boost along the edge.
In other injury news, Harbaugh said running back Justice Hill – who landed on IR just before the Ravens’ Thanksgiving game – will be recovering from his neck injury over the next three to four weeks (h/t Zrebiec). A return in time for the postseason could be in store as a result. Meanwhile, undrafted rookie linebacker Chandler Martin recently suffered an ACL tear, so he will undergo season-ending surgery soon. Martin made three appearance on special teams in 2025.

Lampkin was designated to return from IR back on November 6, and his 21-day practice squad window has come and gone without an activation by the Eagles. The undrafted rookie out of North Carolina will spend the rest of his rookie season on IR, as a result of not being activated.

There hasn’t been much of an update since it was reported that rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel was going through the league’s concussion protocol. He was able to get some limited practice time in yesterday, but he hasn’t yet been cleared. With Gabriel’s status up in the air, Zappe is getting called up in case he’s needed to back up the new starting rookie, Shedeur Sanders.
O’Connell and Sheriff are getting called up with linebackers Tyrice Knight out with a concussion and Ernest Jones questionable with a knee injury. This will be O’Connell’s third and final practice squad elevation, so if the Seahawks wants to see him play again this year, they will need to sign him to the active roster.
Ravens CB Marlon Humphrey Undergoes Finger Surgery
By Thursday of this week, the Ravens knew they would be down two defensive players, and by Friday, they had already placed one of them on injured reserve. 
The Ravens acknowledged a finger injury to first-team All-Pro cornerback Marlon Humphrey last week, even though it didn’t actually keep him from being a full participant in practice. In the team’s win over the Vikings, though, Humphrey only played 45 of the team’s 65 defensive snaps, when he normally only takes a handful of snaps off. This week, the finger injury kept him out of practice all week.
Head coach John Harbaugh acknowledged that Humphrey may require surgery on his finger the day after the game, per Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic. On Wednesday, Kevin Oestreicher, who writes for USA Today as part of the publication’s NFL Wire Network, quoted Harbaugh’s report that Humphrey had gotten “his finger pinned.” Pins are usually placed in broken fingers with unstable or misaligned fractures to help them heal and set properly. Pins remain in the finger until the bones are healed, then are taken out in a minimally invasive procedure.
This does make Humphrey inactive for today’s game, but he is not the player who was placed on IR. Harbaugh relayed to the media that the 29-year-old quarterback will likely only miss a week or two. The player who was placed on IR yesterday was undrafted rookie linebacker Jay Higgins IV. Not to be confused with the second-round Iowa State wide receiver in Houston, Jayden Higgins, Jay played for the rival Iowa Hawkeyes and signed with the Ravens after falling out of the draft.
While making the initial 53-man roster as an undrafted free agent is an impressive feat, though a common one in Baltimore, Higgins hasn’t actually seen any time on defense, instead working as a core special teamer throughout his young career. Per Zrebiec, Higgins sustained a “notable knee injury” sometime during the team’s trip to Minnesota and left the locker room after the game with a significant brace on his right leg. Harbaugh informed the media on Monday that the injury is not season-ending but that it would take a few weeks for Higgins to come back from.
With Humphrey out, the Ravens head to Cleveland with Nate Wiggins, Chidobe Awuzie, T.J. Tampa, and undrafted rookie Keyon Martin as the only healthy corners on the active roster. Martin is the one listed as the second-string nickelback, the position most frequented by Humphrey. The team did call up veteran cornerback Amani Oruwariye as a standard gameday practice squad elevation for added depth at the position.
The Ravens utilized their other elevation to call up another undrafted rookie linebacker in Chandler Martin out of Memphis. Martin and Higgins were frequently viewed as competitors for a 53-man roster spot throughout the preseason, and Martin ended up on the practice squad while Higgins made the team. Now, Martin will get his chance to fill in for Higgins on special teams today.

With the 49ers set to see their starting quarterback return, Martinez’s presence on the 53-man roster is no longer necessary. He’ll likely find his way back to the team’s practice squad.
The Panthers’ two elevations, Barnes and Mukuamu, are direct reflections of injury absences for tomorrow’s game. With Trevin Wallace and Lathan Ransom ruled out for Sunday, Carolina made the decision to call up another player at each position.
Mevis will once again be called upon for kicking duties in Los Angeles. In his NFL debut last week, he was untested in terms of field goal attempts, but he converted all six extra point attempts in a blowout win in San Francisco.
Kamara in Tampa Bay is being called up for the third time this season. If the Buccaneers intend to play him in another game this year, they’ll need to sign him to the 53-man roster, much as the Ravens did after Bryan exhausted all three of his standard gameday practice squad elevations.
