With J.J. McCarthy close to a return from his concussion, the Vikings parted ways with Ridder. He was signed last week after McCarthy entered concussion protocol, but was not elevated to back up Max Brosmer in Week 13. That responsibility instead went to John Wolford, who remains in Minnesota.
Bishop was released by the Steelers at the beginning of November. After appearing all 17 games last year with a 50% snap share, he did not make the 53-man roster this season and remained on the practice squad. He will now join the Saints in the hopes of making his 2025 debut in New Orleans.

The Texans are bringing Wright on as an emergency option as regular kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn works through an injury. Wright has plenty of experience in this role as this will be his fourth team this year alone.
Dolphins Place CB Cornell Armstrong On IR
The Dolphins’ banged-up secondary took another hit Wednesday. The team placed nickel cornerback Cornell Armstrong on injured reserve. He’ll miss at least four games after suffering a hamstring injury in a loss to the Panthers last Sunday.
The Dolphins now have three nickel corners on IR. Along with Armstrong, Jason Marshall and Artie Burns are on the shelf. Marshall has missed two games with a hamstring injury, which opened up playing time for Armstrong, while Burns won’t factor in at all this season after tearing his ACL during training camp.
The injury woes at nickel CB are only part of the problem in Miami’s secondary. Like Burns, corner Kader Kohou tore his ACL in July. The Dolphins have also gone without corner Storm Duck since he injured his ankle in a Week 1 loss to the Colts. Their absences help explain why Miami’s defense ranks last in the NFL in opposing passer rating and completion percentage,
Armstrong first became a Dolphin when they chose him in the sixth round of the 2018 draft. He played in 15 games as a rookie, but the Dolphins released him after the season. Armstrong went on to see action with the Texans (2019) and Falcons (2022) before Miami brought him back over the summer when it placed Burns on IR. The 30-year-old has played in three games this year and registered two tackles.
Having lost another nickel CB, safety Minkah Fitzpatrick will have to continue helping the Dolphins fill that role, per Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. With Fitzpatrick needed elsewhere, the Dolphins signed practice squad safety Jordan Colbert to their active roster on Wednesday. The 25-year-old made his NFL debut in the Dolphins’ Week 3 loss to the Bills. All 12 of his snaps came on special teams.
To take Colbert’s spot on their practice squad, the Dolphins signed Kendall Sheffield. The former Falcon, 49er, Titan, and Jet has appeared in 49 games (20 starts) since debuting in 2019. Sheffield signed with the Dolphins in late May, but they cut him in late August. They elected to bring him back after working out free agent corners Ethan Robinson, Daequan Hardy, and Myles Purchase on Tuesday, according to Jackson.

Ismail was one of 17 players to work out for the Giants on Thursday, per The Athletic’s Dan Duggan. He won the practice squad spot over more notable players like former Broncos safety Caden Sterns and former Browns quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson. Canadian quarterback Taylor Elgersma also attended the workout, per Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post, suggesting that the Giants might be looking for extra depth at the position.
Wallace worked out for the Vikings on Thursday, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. It must have gone well, as he was signed to the practice squad hours later as extra depth both in the secondary and on special teams.
Griffin returned to the Seahawks this offseason, eight years after they made him a third-round pick in the 2017 draft. He did not make Seattle’s 53-man roster, but as a vested veteran, he was able to re-sign to the practice squad without going through waivers.

We learned yesterday that quarterbacks Mike White and Shane Buechele also weren’t going to make the squad.
The Bills moved on from a handful of veterans as they set their first 53-man roster of the season. Among the cuts were offensive lineman Dan Feeney, who has 120 games of experience, and cornerback Dane Jackson, who got into 52 games for the Bills to begin his career. Jackson spent the 2024 campaign in Carolina, where he started three of his nine appearances.
A handful of these cut players have already been connected to Buffalo’s practice squad, assuming they pass through waivers unclaimed. This grouping includes Stephen Gosnell (per Jay Skurski of The Buffalo News), Travis Clayton (per Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN), Keleki Latu (per Ryan Talbot of Syracuse.com), and Kendrick Green (per Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic).
Bills Extend T Ryan Van Demark, Sign Seven To Reserve/Futures Deals
Although ill-timed secondary injuries again bit the Bills in a Chiefs playoff matchup, the team has enjoyed good health along its offensive line over the past two seasons. This has kept swing tackle Ryan Van Demark mostly on the bench.
But the Bills still have plans for the backup lineman. Van Demark signed an extension Monday, allowing him to bypass exclusive rights free agency. This is a formality, as the Bills could have tendered Van Demark as an ERFA and retained him without any outside competition. Nevertheless, the young blocker is under contract for 2025.
Van Demark beat out David Quessenberry for the Bills’ swing job in 2023 and held a key backup role again this season. The 26-year-old former UDFA made his first two starts this season. While one of those came in a Week 18 after the Bills had wrapped up the AFC’s No. 2 seed, Van Demark also filled in for Spencer Brown at right tackle against the Chiefs in Week 11. He played 199 offensive snaps this season.
The Bills initially added Van Demark on a practice squad deal in September 2022; the Colts had included the UConn alum in their UDFA class that year but did not carry him onto their 53-man roster. Buffalo is still in good shape at tackle, having extended both Brown and Dion Dawkins in 2024.
In addition to Van Demark, the Bills conducted standard postseason business by handing out reserve/futures contracts. Running back Frank Gore Jr., who joined one of his father’s former teams by signing as a UDFA last May, is among the seven sticking around with the team into the 2025 offseason. Here is that contingent:
- CB Te’Cory Couch
- OL Mike Edwards
- RB Frank Gore Jr.
- OL Richard Gouraige
- WR KJ Hamler
- CB Daequan Hardy
- DT Zion Logue
