Eagles To Sign WR Samori Toure

With A.J. Brown‘s departure nearing, the Eagles are making yet another receiver addition. Samori Toure has agreed to a deal with Philadelphia, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports.

Toure began his career with the Packers, seeing game action with them in 2022 and again in 2023. Having remained in the organization during the summer of 2024 he is familiar to Sean Mannion, whose coaching tenure began with Green Bay that year. Mannion is now the Eagles’ offensive coordinator.

After failing to survive roster cutdowns in 2024, Toure made an intra-divisional move by signing with the Bears on their practice roster. The former seventh-rounder landed a futures contract following that season, but he never wound up making any regular-season appearances with Chicago. Toure joined the Saints this past fall by signing to New Orleans’ taxi squad. He played in one game during the 2025 campaign.

This summer, Toure will aim to carve out a depth role on the Eagles’ WR depth chart. He will be joined by a familiar face in the form of Dontayvion Wicks, who was acquired via trade and given a one-year extension upon arrival by Philadelphia. Wicks also began his career with the Packers. This spring has been busy with respect to receiver acquisitions on the part of the Eagles. Marquise Brown was added in free agency before the team traded up in the first round of April’s draft to select Makai Lemon.

Those new arrivals will be joined by Toure and returnee DeVonta Smith during training camp. Brown remains on the roster for the time being, although Monday afternoon marks the beginning of the period where moving on from his contract will be viable from a cap perspective. Compensation with the Patriots is still a talking point, but a Brown-to-New England move remains the widespread expectation around the league.

Toure, 28, has totaled 23 appearances to date in his career. He has never operated as a regular on offense in the NFL, but he could serve in a backup role upon reuniting with Mannion and joining a significantly revamped Eagles WR room.

Texans Try Out 5 Wide Receivers

The Texans currently have 12 wideouts under contract, but they are still exploring additional options at the position. Houston hosted five receivers for workouts, per KPRC2’s Aaron Wilson, including River Cracraft, D’Wayne Eskridge, and Samori Toure.

Cracraft, 31, has spent time with four teams in his eight-year career. After a year on the Broncos’ practice squad, the former Washington State Cougar made his first eight regular-season appearances in 2018 but only played 19 snaps the following season. He spent the next two years in San Francisco with more time on offense but just nine targets in as many games. Cracraft was relegated to special teams duties in 2021 and signed with Mike McDaniel‘s Dolphins the following offseason. He saw more offensive involvement in Miami with 29 appearances and 464 snaps over the next three years, but still remained a tertiary target with just 289 receiving yards. He spent last year on Washington’s practice squad with just 11 snaps in his two elevations.

The Seahawks selected Eskridge with the No. 59 pick in the 2021 draft, but the 29-year-old only appeared in 24 games across his first three seasons due to injuries and a suspension of the league’s personal conduct policy. His contributions when healthy amounted to just 302 total yards on 32 touches. Eskridge spent the last two years in Miami but remained on the periphery of the offense with a lead kick return role in 2025.

Toure, 28, was a Packers seventh-round pick in 2022 who appeared in 22 games over his first two seasons with 251 snaps on offense. He only caught 13 of his 28 targets for 160 yards with just three snaps on special teams. He spent the 2024 season on the Bears practice squad and appeared in one game for the Saints last year.

Houston also hosted undrafted rookie Demarcus Lacey and Titans 2024 sixth-round pick Jha’Quan Jackson for workouts. Lacey racked up 769 yards through the air and 157 on the ground at Marshall in 2025 with an average of 12.2 yards on 17 punt returns. Jackson was Tennessee’s primary punt returner for 12 games as a rookie, but he lost the job after committing five fumbles. He was waived during final roster cuts in 2025 and spent a week on the Saints’ practice squad in November.

Four of the five wideouts have experience as a returner, indicating the Texans may also be looking for special teams help as they progress through OTAs. However, their roster is still well-stocked at the receiver position, so the team could be getting an idea of their options should they need more depth by training camp.

Minor NFL Transactions: 4/27/26

NFL teams have begun making roster adjustments following the conclusion of the 2026 draft. Here are the latest moves:

Atlanta Falcons

Jacksonville Jaguars

  • Received international exemption: OL Kilian Zierer

New England Patriots

  • Waived: WR John Jiles, TE Marshall Lang

New Orleans Saints

New York Giants

Pittsburgh Steelers

Seattle Seahawks

San Francisco 49ers

Gill was a Bears seventh-round pick in 2022 who ranked among the league’s bottom 10 punters during his first two seasons in Chicago. He then served as one of the Buccaneers’ three punters in 2024 and did not sign with another team until joining Atlanta’s practice squad this past January. He then signed a reserve/futures contract with the Falcons. Former Patriots All-Pro Jake Bailey then arrived in March on a three-year, $9MM deal, solidifying the team’s punter situation in 2026 and resulting in Gill’s release.

Leal never lived up to his third-round draft billing in Pittsburgh, appearing in just 32 games with one sack and three tackles for loss across the last four seasons. He signed a reserve/futures contract with the Giants in January, but he was deemed surplus to requirements after defensive line additions in free agency and the draft.

Akers, 26, finished the 2025 season as a Super Bowl champion with the Seahawks. The departure of Kenneth Walker in free agency preserved the possibility of a 2026 role in Seattle, but the team quickly restocked their backfield by signing former Packer Emanuel Wilson and drafting Notre Dame’s Jadarian Price. Akers has played for four different teams across his six-year career and will now be looking for a new home.

Minor NFL Transactions: 1/2/26

Friday’s minor moves and a couple standard gameday practice squad elevations for Saturday’s lineup:

Arizona Cardinals

Carolina Panthers

Miami Dolphins

Minnesota Vikings

New Orleans Saints

After missing several games down the stretch of the season as he dealt with appendicitis, Harrison returned to play in the Cardinals’ past two games with far fewer snaps than his usual starter’s share. Ahead of the team’s regular season finale, Arizona has shut last year’s No. 4 overall pick down for the small remainder of the regular season.

The same is being done for Waller in Miami. The veteran tight end was able to make his return from retirement with the Dolphins after sitting out in 2024, but injury limited him to only nine contests. He was extremely effective in the short time he played (six touchdowns), but the injuries that bookended his short stints of activity will certainly be brought up in any contract negotiations for him in the future.

The Panthers are choosing not to activate guard Robert Hunt or wide receiver David Moore for tomorrow’s game. If Carolina is able to get into the postseason, an activation could still happen next week.

Diggs had already been elevated three times for New Orleans this season, so the team needed to sign him to the 53-man roster in order for him to appear in the regular season finale.

NFL Practice Squad Updates: 10/28/25

Today’s practice squad transactions from across the NFL:

Atlanta Falcons

Carolina Panthers

Denver Broncos

Las Vegas Raiders

Los Angeles Rams

Miami Dolphins

Minnesota Vikings

New England Patriots

New York Giants

Philadelphia Eagles

Pittsburgh Steelers

San Francisco 49ers

Tennessee Titans

Washington Commanders

The Steelers have seen injuries ravage their secondary in recent weeks. They made a big move not long ago to address the position, but Forrest comes in with some additional experience, providing depth at safety.

The 49ers are letting go of Parker, a former third-round pick who failed to find success with the Raiders, in order to make room for Dillard, a former first-round pick who failed to ever establish himself as a full-time starter in the NFL. Dillard spent the offseason with San Francisco, eventually getting released from injured reserve with an injury settlement. He’s been a free agent ever since and now signs his first ever practice squad deal.

After getting signed to the Commanders’ practice squad to fill in for an injured Matt Gay last night, Wright returns to free agency. In a low-scoring Sunday night affair, Wright made his only kick — a single extra point attempt.

NFL Practice Squad Updates: 10/5/25

We have a rare Sunday transaction today:

Denver Broncos

Toure’s name came up earlier this week when he was hosted by the Giants following their loss of Malik Nabers. The former seventh-round pick for the Packers hasn’t played in a game since 2023, and in 22 games with Green Bay, he only reeled in 13 catches for 160 yards and a touchdown.

Unless one of them is released to make room for Toure on the practice squad, Toure will join three other receivers on Denver’s taxi squad. The Broncos only carry five receivers on their 53-man roster, so all four pass catchers on the practice squad stand a decent chance of being called up in case of injury.

Workout Notes: Giants, Steelers, Ravens, Chargers, Commanders

Having lost superstar No. 1 wide receiver Malik Nabers to a season-ending torn ACL, the Giants are looking to replenish their depth at the position. With that in mind, they’ll work out free agent receiver Samori Toure on Friday, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports. Now 27 years old, Toure entered the NFL as a seventh-round pick of the Packers in 2022. Toure caught 13 passes for 160 yards and a touchdown with the Packers over two seasons, and he hasn’t appeared in a regular-season game since 2023. The Bears signed Toure to a reserve/futures contract last January, but they waived him in August. The 6-foot-1, 196-pounder has been on the open market since then.

More workout updates from around the NFL:

  • After losing practice squad safety Sebastian Castro to the Buccaneers on Tuesday, the Steelers brought in a handful of potential replacements for visits on Wednesday, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2. The team auditioned Kendell Brooks, Jack Henderson, Maxen Hook, Glendon Miller, and Mark Perry. Brooks, who appeared in five games with the Titans last year, is the only member of the group with regular-season NFL experience.
  • The Ravens had defensive backs Amani Oruwariye, Michael Davis, Kemon Hall, and Keenan Isaac in for tryouts on Wednesday, per Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic. The 30-year-old Davis is the most experienced member of the group, having amassed 122 appearances (76 starts) and eight interceptions with the Chargers and Commanders since 2017. However, only Oruwariye impressed Baltimore’s brass enough to earn a contract with the team this week. The Ravens added the seventh-year cornerback and former Lion, Jaguar, and Cowboy on a practice squad deal on Wednesday. He’ll provide depth with the Ravens dealing with a slew of defensive injuries, including to corners Marlon Humphrey (calf), Nate Wiggins (elbow), and Chidobe Awuzie (hamstring).
  • Along with Bobby Hart, whom they signed to their practice squad, the Chargers worked out fellow offensive linemen Chris Hubbard and Zachary Thomas on Wednesday, Wilson relays. Hubbard, 34, has 102 games of experience and 61 starts under his belt. The guard/tackle played in eight games and totaled three starts with the Giants last year. Thomas divided 2024 between the Patriots and Texans, with whom he combined for 14 of his 17 career appearances. He still hasn’t logged a start since debuting with the Rams in 2022.
  • The Commanders tried out punter Jack Browning on Thursday, according to Wilson. Washington is looking for depth behind two-time Pro Bowl punter and 12th-year man Tress Way, who has averaged 47.1 yards per punt and 43.4 net on 14 tries this season. Browning, undrafted from San Diego State in 2o24, appeared in 10 games with Tampa Bay as a rookie and averaged 42.5 yards (34.6 net) on 10 punts.

Bears Place CB Terell Smith On IR, Waive Six Others

As roster cuts continue the Bears get started with a placement on injured reserve and six waivings:

Waived:

Placed on IR:

The Bears lost Smith, a third-year rotation cornerback after the former fifth-rounder suffered a torn patellar tendon in the team’s second preseason game. With his placement on IR before the roster cut deadline and no designation to return, he will officially miss the entire 2025 NFL season.

Some of the players waived, like Glaser and Toure have some NFL experience here and there with other teams, but they didn’t end up sticking it out in Chicago. The Bears have a lot more work ahead of them to get the roster down to 53.

NFL Reserve/Futures Deals: 1/6/25

With the regular season having come to an end, many teams have started signing players to reserve/futures contracts. This allows organization to retain (routinely) young, practice squad players. Here are the latest reserve/futures contracts:

Arizona Cardinals

Atlanta Falcons

Carolina Panthers

Chicago Bears

Cleveland Browns

Dallas Cowboys

Indianapolis Colts

Las Vegas Raiders

New York Giants

New York Jets

San Francisco 49ers

Seattle Seahawks
