Titans Cut Justin Hunter, Bishop Sankey
4:00pm: The Titans have made more cuts this afternoon, including another big name. Running back/wide receiver Dexter McCluster has been let go. McCluster averaged 4.5 yards per carry last season in Tennessee and averaged 8.4 yards per reception, but the Titans saw a better use for his roster spot. McCluster already pocketed a $350k roster bonus earlier this year, but the Titans will save $2.275MM in cash by cutting him.

11:07am: The Titans have jettisoned a pair of notable players from the old front office regime. Wide receiver Justin Hunter and running back Bishop Sankey have both been cut, as Terry McCormick of TitanInsider.com reports (Twitter links).
Hunter, an exceptionally talented receiver, was drafted 34th overall in 2013. Since then, the Titans have been frustrated with Hunter and there have been rumblings that his work ethic was not up to par. Days ago, the Titans shipped out another talented wide receiver with perceived motivation problems when they traded Dorial Green-Beckham to the Eagles.
“It is still going to be hard (to make the team) because we have a lot of talented receivers in the group. We are fighting for spots, and you have to keep up and progress at the same time,” said the 25-year-old Hunter last month, acknowledging that his spot on the roster was not guaranteed.
Hunter has an uninspiring 68 receptions and eight touchdowns in 35 career games (13 starts). While Hunter has averaged an impressive 16.8 yards per catch, that number dropped to a career-worst 12.0 on 22 grabs last season. The 2015 campaign was a short one for Hunter, who only appeared in nine games as a result of a mid-November fractured ankle.
Sankey was once viewed as the Titans’ best running back and was expected to break out as a rookie in 2014. Sankey, 24 later this month, appeared in all 16 games for the Titans as a rookie but amassed only 569 yards off of 152 carries. Last season, Sankey’s role was reduced even further has he had only 47 rushing attempts for 193 yards in 13 games.
The surprising cuts didn’t stop there. The Titans are going to waive guard Jeremiah Poutasi, a source tells Adam Caplan of ESPN.com (on Twitter). Poutasi was an early third-round pick of the Titans last year.

Minor NFL Transactions: 4/1/16
Here’s a rundown of today’s minor signings, cuts, and other moves:
- The Chiefs have inked linebacker Andy Mulumba to a one-year pact, according to his agent (Twitter link via Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel). Mulumba, who met with the Chiefs on Wednesday, previously drew interest from New England. He spent the first three years of his career in Green Bay, appeared in 22 regular-season contests and recorded three starts. Mulumba was delayed in signing anywhere because of citizenship issues, per of USA Today. The native of the Democratic Republic of Congo is a Canadian citizen and has been working to attain U.S. citizenship and residency, but he had to return to Canada after his work visa expired. Mulumba met with the Chiefs and Patriots on a visitor visa. Now that he has found employment again, Mulumba can return to the U.S.
- In addition to Mulumba, the Chiefs have signed safety Jimmy Wilson to a one-year deal, Pro Football Talk reports (Twitter link). Wilson, 29, appeared in 13 games with San Diego last season before the team released him in December. Since entering the league as a seventh-rounder in 2011, Wilson has played in 73 regular-season games, logged 28 starts, and amassed five interceptions.
- The Titans have agreed to terms with linebacker Curtis Grant, according to Jim Wyatt of Titans Online (on Twitter). Grant was a member of Atlanta’s taxi squad towards the end of the year and also auditioned for Seattle in January.
- The Eagles signed Ryan Mueller, according to Zach Berman of The Philadelphia Inquirer (on Twitter). Mueller previously played linebacker in the NFL, but he’ll be a fullback for Philly. The 24-year-old out of Kansas State spent 2015 with San Diego. It’s a two-year deal, according to Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer (Twitter link).
- The Eagles have waived offensive lineman Tanner Hawkinson, as McLane tweets.

- The Saints tried out John Conner and Henry Hynoski, a league source tells Mike Florio of PFT. New Orleans already has a fullback on the roster in Austin Johnson, but he was a surprise scratch on Sunday and he may have fallen out of favor with coaches. Conner, nicknamed the Terminator, was a favorite of Rex Ryan while with the Jets. Conner followed Ryan to Buffalo in 2015, but he was let go before the start of the season. Hynoski, a four-year veteran, spent his full career with the Giants and appeared in every game last year.

Linebacker John Lotulelei, tackle Jesse Davis, guard Taylor Boggs, defensive end Keith Browner, guard Kadeem Edwards, defensive end Efe Obada, and defensive end DeAngelo Tyson were also showing their stuff for Seattle.
- The Jaguars brought in kickers Zach Hocker and Randy Bullock for a workout on Wednesday, but Josh Scobee was not among those in attendance, according to Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com (Twitter links).
- In addition to their previously reported look at Jeff Demps, the Jets tried out running back Akeem Hunt on Tuesday, a league source tells Florio. Wide receiver Larry Pinkard also got a look from Gang Green. Chris Ivory is dealing with tightness in his quad, so the Jets might opt to add a running back if he needs to sit out for a while.
