With Anthony Richardson heading to injured reserve with an eye injury, the Colts are set to add some QB depth in veteran Brett Rypien, per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. The 29-year-old brings four games of starting experience to Indy, with his most recent start coming with the Rams in 2023. In total, Rypien has completed 58.3 percent of his career passes for 950 yards, four touchdowns, and nine interceptions. Riley Leonard will temporarily be the QB2 behind Daniel Jones, but there’s a chance Rypien eventually works his way up to the active roster.
The Chargers moved on from a notable edge defender today in Clelin Ferrell. The former Raiders first-round pick started all 17 games for the 49ers just two years ago, with the edge rusher finishing that campaign with 3.5 sacks and 13 QB hits. He started 10 of his 14 appearances with the Commanders in 2024, adding another 3.5 sacks to his resume. After being among Washington’s final preseason cuts, Ferrell caught on with the Chargers practice squad and ended up getting into one game with the big-league club.
The Eagles moved on from a pair of skill players today. Audric Estime was a fifth-round pick by the Broncos last year, with the running back compiling 337 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns on 81 touches. He was waived by Denver back in August and landed on Philly’s practice squad. Javon Baker was a fourth-round pick by the Patriots in last year’s draft, but he was limited to a single catch in 11 games.
Packers Audition Multiple Kickers
With kicker Brandon McManus battling a quad injury, the Packers hosted Lucas Havrisik and Greg Joseph for workouts on Thursday, per ESPN’s Rob Demovsky.
McManus was injured in practice on Wednesday but said on Thursday that he still plans to play on Sunday against the Bengals, according to Demovsky. He referenced a similar injury in 2022 that he played through, albeit with a noticeable but not extreme impact on his performance. By the end of that season, he appeared to be back to full strength.
The Packers do have another kicker on their roster in Mark McNamee, an Ireland native who is part of the NFL’s International Player Pathway Program. He made one of his two field goals and two of his three extra points in the preseason, per Pro Football Focus (subscription required). It is not surprising that the Packers wanted to explore other options before trotting out such an inexperienced player in the regular season.
Havrisik’s only NFL experience came in 2023 with the Rams. He went 11-for-11 from inside 40 yards, but converted only four of his nine attempts from further out. Havrisik’s most recent action came with the UFL’s Arlington Renegades in 2025; he made 22 of his 25 attempts with a long of 54 yards.
Joseph is a much more experienced player with 75 appearances across his six-season career. He has a career conversion rate of 82.3% and made four of his nine field goals from 40 or more yards in 2024.
The Packers seem unsure of McManus’ status for Week 6. Head coach Matt LaFleur said (via Demovsky) before Thursday’s practice the kicker’s quad injury was a “major concern right now” and indicated that the veteran kicker was day-to-day, per Demovsky. However, special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia said (also via Demovsky) that he was “planning on McManus playing Sunday as of right now.”
A signing on Friday would be an indicator that McManus is at serious risk of missing the game, but he seems determined to play.

Despite his struggles to carve out a role in the NFL, Simmons made the 53-man roster in each of his first five seasons after the Cardinals selected him with the No. 8 pick in 2020. That streak has come to an end in Green Bay with his release today.
Alexandre is expected to return to the Packers’ practice squad if he clears waivers, per USA Today’s Ryan Wood, who places Banks in the same category.
Lloyd suffered a groin injury early in training camp and a hamstring injury more recently, which will land him on IR and sideline him for at least four weeks. Monk, though to be the team’s backup center, will also be out for a minimum of four weeks.
