The Titans’ ownership situation has presented a few questions over the past several years, but some Saturday news should help provide stability for the franchise.
Susie Adams Smith agreed to sell her share of the team to an Adams family-controlled business (KSA Industries, Inc.), according to Teresa Walker of The Associated Press. This will make her sister, Amy Adams Strunk, a 50% owner of the Titans.
While other Adamses will control the other 50%, Adams Strunk will serve as the Titans’ controlling owner. This comes ahead of next week’s latest round of owners meetings. The timing here is notable, considering Roger Goodell can fine teams that do not have a controlling owner up to $10MM.
“With this transaction, we are pleased to ensure that the legacy started by my father will continue in our family,” Adams Strunk said, via Walker. “We are thrilled to make this commitment and will continue to invest in our team’s future growth and success. Our belief in what lies ahead for this team is unwavering and we are eager to see it unfold.”
The October 2013 death of Oilers/Titans founder Bud Adams left his daughters — Adams Strunk and Adams Smith — with one-third shares of the Titans. This recent development will allow the team to be in compliance with the NFL rule that mandates a franchise have one primary decision-maker for league-related matters.

Isaiah Wilson‘s turbulent rookie year may be over, and the latest news involving the Titans first-round pick points to the offensive line prospect needing to surmount hurdles to resume his career.
The Titans placed Wilson on their reserve/non-football illness list Wednesday. This came four days after they suspended him for Sunday’s game. Jack Conklin‘s would-be heir apparent at right tackle, Wilson made his NFL debut in Week 12. He played four snaps against the Colts. That might end up being his only action as a rookie.
“Currently, (Wilson) is dealing with some personal issues, which will take some time for him to work through,” Titans GM Jon Robinson said. “We will continue to help him and support him, with the hope that he can ultimately re-join the team.”
Since the Titans drafted him, Wilson has been arrested for DUI, received a trespass warning for attending a party at Tennessee State and twice landed on the team’s reserve/COVID-19 list. Former swing man Dennis Kelly has worked as Tennessee’s right tackle starter, and that status does not look to change in the near future. Wilson is under contract through 2023, but the Georgia product’s career can be considered on hold.
Adam Humphries is hitting the shelf again. The Titans’ slot receiver will be put back on injured reserve which will sideline him for at least the next three weeks, the team announced Tuesday.
This IR placement is apparently related to ongoing concussion issues he has dealt with, which is never a good sign. Humphries played a big role early in the season, with at least four catches and 41 yards in each of his first four games. Humphries missed around a month with a concussion before returning this past week against the Browns. Considering he was immediately placed back on IR for the same issue, it’s a scary situation.
Obviously, the most important thing is Humphries’ brain health. If everything goes as smoothly as we’d all hope, the earliest he could return would be for Tennessee’s Week 17 game and then potentially the playoffs. The Titans inked the slot receiver to a four-year, $36MM deal in March of 2019.
His first year with the team was a bit of a disappointment, as he finished with only 374 yards in 12 games. That came on the heels of his breakout 2018 season with the Bucs, when he racked up 816 yards and five touchdowns. He looked well on his way to a much better second year in Tennessee before these issues unfortunately derailed it.
