Stokes continues to rehab from foot and knee injuries that limited him to only nine games in 2022. His placement on PUP means he’ll have to sit out at least the first four games before being eligible for activation. The 2021 first-round pick has started 23 of his 25 appearances for the Packers, collecting 81 tackles, 14 passes defended, and one interception.
Meanwhile, Moore won’t be eligible to play for the Packers in 2023 after getting placed on injured reserve with a knee injury. Moore joined the Packers this offseason after spending the first five seasons of his career with the 49ers. He sat out the entire 2021 campaign but otherwise appeared in 61 games across four healthy seasons with San Francisco, collecting 108 tackles.

Giants Move To 53-Man Limit
The Giants began working on their roster reductions Monday, but they finished off that effort by Tuesday’s deadline. Here is how GM Joe Schoen’s first round of cuts look:
Released:
- WR C.J. Board
- G Jamil Douglas
- T Will Holden
- DE Jalyn Holmes
- QB Davis Webb
Waived:
- TE Austin Allen

- S Nate Meadors
- DL David Moa
- WR Jaylon Moore
- LB Quincy Roche
- S Trenton Thompson
Webb, who chose the Giants over a possible path as the Bills’ quarterbacks coach, will likely be brought back on the practice squad. He would be positioned as the Giants’ de facto third-stringer, behind Daniel Jones and Tyrod Taylor. This is Webb’s second stint with the Giants, who initially drafted him in the 2017 third round.
New York’s cut list does not include Darius Slayton, despite rampant rumors about the former fifth-round pick being a departure candidate. The Giants would mean a $2.5MM cap-room boost, but it also would mean saying goodbye to a player who led Big Blue in receiving in 2019 and ’20. Observing Slayton’s place on Brian Daboll‘s first roster will still be interesting, but for now, the fourth-year pass catcher joins Sterling Shepard, Kenny Golladay, Kadarius Toney and second-round rookie Wan’Dale Robinson on the 53-man roster.
The Giants’ safety cuts leave the team with three at the position. The team, which cut Logan Ryan earlier this offseason and let Jabrill Peppers walk in free agency, has Xavier McKinney, Julian Love and rookie Dane Belton. A fourth-round pick, Belton is also recovering from a broken collarbone sustained early in training camp. The Iowa product is not expected to be out too much longer. Still, it would not surprise if the Giants added help via waivers.
Giants Sign 13 UDFAs
The Giants have become the latest team to announce their UDFA signings. Here are the players they have brought in to fill out their offseason roster:
- TE Austin Allen, Nebraska
- RB Jashaun Corbin, Florida State
- S Yusuf Corker, Kentucky
- DT Jabari Ellis, South Carolina
- CB Darren Evans, LSU
- LB Tomon Fox, North Carolina
- CB Zyon Gilbert, Florida Atlantic
- FB Jeremiah Hall, Oklahoma
- DT Christopher Hinton, Michigan
- TE Andre Miller, Maine
- G Josh Rivas, Kansas State
- S Trenton Thompson, San Diego State
- DT Antonio Valentino, Florida
Before the team confirmed these signings, reports had come out regarding guaranteed money for some of them. The biggest investment was made into Hinton, who will receive $100K in base salary, coupled with a $15K signing bonus, per Dan Duggan of the Athletic (Twitter link). In three seasons with the Wolverines, he played a rotational role, making a career-high 32 tackles this season for the Big Ten champions.
Duggan also reports that Corbin will likewise receive $100K in base pay, along with a $10K signing bonus. After two years at Texas A&M, he transferred to Florida State. His first year with the Seminoles saw him produce 516 scrimmage yards and five touchdowns, but he took a step forward this season. In 2021, he led the ACC in yards per carry with 6.2, showcasing on a number of occasions his home-run ability with long touchdown runs en route to earning Third-Team all-conference honors. He will compete with Antonio Williams, Gary Brightwell and Sandro Platzgummer for the final spots on the depth chart behind Saquon Barkley and Matt Breida.

NFC Notes: Ward, Giants, Bucs, Rollins
Jimmie Ward‘s interesting career with the 49ers looks set for another turn. The fifth-year player’s been shuttled to different positions in each of his four years, with four coaching staffs annually shifting him between safety and cornerback. This year, it doesn’t look like Ward will have a surefire path to remain a starter. Having started 24 games for the past three seasons at either corner or safety, Ward now is set to be a super-sub in Robert Saleh‘s secondary. Second-year safety Adrian Colbert usurped Ward, and once Richard Sherman is ready to play, he’ll take Ward’s place at cornerback alongside Ahkello Witherspoon, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle notes. He may not be in line to start in the slot, either, with K’Waun Williams back.
“It’s not going to be easy for (Ward) to start at any of those five (positons),” Kyle Shanahan said, via Branch, of the 2014 first-rounder who’s set to make $8.52MM this season. “Right now, he’s trying to do it at corner. We’ll reassess this at the end of OTAs and see how it is in training camp. … If Jimmie doesn’t earn a starting role, there’s also a good chance he’s the first backup at every single position: strong safety, free safety, nickel (corner), (outside) corner, because he’s capable of being a starter at all of those positions.”
Here’s the latest from some NFC franchises, continuing with the latest on a player who has a better path to a starting lineup.
- Will Hernandez‘s starting spot will likely come at the expense of John Jerry, per Ryan Dunleavy of NJ.com. The second-round pick is expected to make a strong push to move into the Giants‘ lineup, and with Big Blue signing Patrick Omameh earlier this offseason, Jerry may be the odd man out. The team could be keeping the veteran around as insurance, but it would cost the Giants more to cut him than it would yield in cap savings. Jerry’s the longest-tenured Giants offensive line starter, doing so since 2014. Both he and Omameh graded as top-40 guards last season, in the view of Pro Football Focus.
- The Buccaneers‘ UDFA contingent houses some players who received hefty guarantees to sign. Arkansas quarterback Austin Allen received $50K guaranteed to sign, in the form of a $15K signing bonus and a $35K base salary guarantee, Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Temple tackle Cole Boozer received $45K to sign ($20K signing bonus, $25K base guarantee) and running back Shaun Wilson (Duke) collected a $10K signing bonus and saw Tampa Bay guarantee $10K of his base salary. Auman adds Western Michigan tight end Donnie Ernsberger received a $15K bonus.
- Former Packers second-round pick Quinten Rollins is back working with his team on a limited basis during OTAs, Michael Cohen of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel notes. Rollins tore an Achilles’ tendon in October and isn’t a lock for the roster, given both the severity of his injury and the Packers having drafted corners with their first two 2018 picks. Green Bay did deal Damarious Randall to Cleveland, however, opening up one spot. But the team also added former starter Tramon Williams in free agency. Cohen reports some in the Packers’ scouting department believe Rollins should be moved to safety, but it’s unclear whether the coaching staff concurs. Brian Gutekunst has said Rollins will try to work his way back into the cornerback contingent.
