Giants Sign S K’Von Wallace
The Giants have added some safety depth ahead of training camp. K’Von Wallace has a deal in place, as first reported by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
Wallace himself has since confirmed the pact. Today’s move comes as little surprise since he conducted a workout with the Giants last month. Wallace, 27, has a familiarity with defensive coordinator Shane Bowen as the two worked together in Tennessee.
After starting his career with the Eagles, Wallace made a total of 12 starts during the 2023 campaign. That included seven with the Titans, where Bowen was at the time. The Clemson product logged a 60% defensive snap share in Tennessee upon being claimed off waivers from the Cardinals. Wallace spent last season in Seattle, and in nine appearances he chipped in on defense while logging a regular special teams role.
A first-team defensive spot will not be available for the former fourth-round pick upon arrival in New York pending injuries further up the depth chart. Free agent addition Jevon Holland and 2024 second-rounder Tyler Nubin are in position to operate as the team’s starters this season. Dane Belton – who has seen part-time defensive duties along with a heavy special teams workload during his three seasons – projects as the No. 3 safety. Entering camp, however, the Giants faced questions about their depth beyond that trio.
Wallace’s addition will give New York additional experience as a backup/special teams option. The team entered Tuesday with only $3.8MM in cap space, limiting the value of any free agent signings at this point in the offseason. Wallace’s pact is no doubt one year in length, though, and it should check in at or near the veteran minimum. With an agreement in place, his attention will turn to earning a roster spot over the coming weeks.

It’s unfortunate news for the rookie second-round safety, Nubin. After starting the first 13 games of his first season in the NFL, the top-drafted safety in the 2024 NFL Draft will end the year on injured reserve with an ankle injury. Nubin had graded out as the 34th-best safety in the league, per Pro Football Focus (subscription required), before the injury.
Charles will miss the remainer of the season, as well, and perhaps some of next year. The former undrafted receiver will be undergoing surgery for a torn ACL.

Edwards served a four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy and is now eligible to be reinstated to the Texans’ active roster. Houston requested and received a one-game roster exemption to give Edwards an additional week to practice with the team before being added back to the 53-man roster.
Seahawks Contract Details: Hankins, Wallace, Anchrum, Shenault, Dodson, Burns, Baker
Here are some details from recently agreed-upon contracts in Seattle:
- Johnathan Hankins, DT: One year, $2.05MM. According to ESPN’s Brady Henderson, Hankins’ new deal includes a base salary of $1.24MM and $300K of guaranteed money in the form of a signing bonus. He can earn up to $510K in per-game active roster bonuses.
- K’Von Wallace, S: One year, $1.5MM. Henderson informs us that Wallace’s contract will have a base salary of $1.13MM and includes $205K of guaranteed money that all comes in the signing bonus. Wallace will also be able to earn up to $170K via per-game active roster bonuses.
- Tremayne Anchrum, G: One year, $1.16MM. Once again, Henderson tells us that Anchrum’s new deal will include a base salary of $1.06MM and a guaranteed amount of $100K in the form of a signing bonus.
- Laviska Shenault Jr., WR: One year, $1.29MM. According to Henderson, Shenault’s new contract has a guaranteed amount of $1.15MM comprised of $985K of his base salary (worth a total of $1.13MM) and a $167.5K signing bonus.
- Tyrel Dodson, LB: One year, $4.26MM. Dodson’s new deal has a guaranteed amount of $1MM comprised completely of his signing bonus, per Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times. With a base salary of $2.25MM, Dodson can earn an additional $250K in a workout bonus and a potential $760K in per-game active roster bonuses. Nick Korte of OvertheCap.com tells us that the contract adds another seventh-round compensatory pick for the Bills in 2025 while taking a sixth-round compensatory pick away from the Seahawks.
- Artie Burns, CB: One year, $1.38MM. Condotta also tells us that Burns has signed for the veteran minimum, once again. He’ll hold a base salary of $1.21MM with $75K of guaranteed money in the form of a signing bonus. He can earn another potential $92.5K with a roster bonus.
- Jerome Baker, LB: One year, $7MM. We were already aware of the $7MM value of Baker’s deal, but ESPN’s Henderson informs us that Baker’s new deal has a guaranteed amount of $6.02MM, consisting of his $2.02MM base salary and $4MM signing bonus. The $977.5K remaining in non-guaranteed money will come in the form of per-game active roster bonuses.
Seahawks To Sign S K’Von Wallace
Following a half-year stop in Tennessee, K’Von Wallace is back in the NFC. The free agent safety is signing with the Seahawks, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. It will be a one-year deal for Wallace.
The former Eagles fourth-round pick spent three years as a backup in Philadelphia before getting waived at the end of the 2023 preseason. He caught on with the Cardinals and proceeded to start five of his seven appearances with the organization, collecting 43 tackles and one interception.
He was waived by Arizona in October and landed with the Titans, where he started seven of his 10 appearances down the stretch. Wallace added another 46 tackles to his resume during his short stint in Tennessee. For his full-season performance, Pro Football Focus graded him 39th among 95 qualifying safeties, with the site being especially high on his coverage ability.
After moving on from Quandre Diggs and Jamal Adams, the Seahawks have been searching for some safety depth. The team previously brought in former Jaguars safety Rayshawn Jenkins, adding the veteran to holdovers like Julian Love and Coby Bryant.
Minor NFL Transactions: 10/25/23
Here are Wednesday’s minor moves from around the league:
Baltimore Ravens
- Designated to return from IR: WR Tylan Wallace
Denver Broncos
- Signed to active roster: WR Lil’Jordan Humphrey
Houston Texans
- Designated to return from IR: DT Hassan Ridgeway
Los Angeles Rams
- Designated to return from IR: TE Hunter Long
Miami Dolphins
- Designated to return from IR: WR River Cracraft
Seattle Seahawks
- Designated to return from IR: RB Kenny McIntosh
- Designated to return from PUP: NT Austin Faoliu
Tennessee Titans
- Claimed off waivers (from Cardinals): S K’Von Wallace
- Placed on IR: DT Taylor Stallworth
After being waived yesterday by the team who submitted a waiver claim for him at the start of the season, Wallace finds himself on the third NFL team of his career. While the trade that sent star Titans’ defender Kevin Byard to Philadelphia returned another safety in Terrell Edmunds, Wallace will come in and attempt to compete for some key playing time with Edmunds and Amani Hooker.
Humphrey has been promoted as a standard gameday elevation three times already, the limit for a practice squad contract, so in order to see any further game action, he needed to be on the active roster. If he is released and re-signs to the team’s practice squad, he’ll be able to be elevated three more times under a new practice squad deal.
Cardinals Waive S K’Von Wallace
For the second time this year, K’Von Wallace has landed on the waiver wire. Despite Wallace following Jonathan Gannon and Nick Rallis from Philadelphia to Arizona, the Cardinals cut the fourth-year defender Tuesday.
Wallace failed to make the Eagles’ 53-man roster in August, but the Cardinals offered him another opportunity via a waiver claim. Arizona also deployed Wallace as a full-time player from Weeks 2-6; the 2020 fourth-round pick played 100% of the Cardinals’ defensive snaps in that span. But Budda Baker‘s return affected Wallace’s standing in Arizona.
Baker missed the Cardinals’ Week 2 game and landed on IR soon after. The team activated Baker from IR ahead of Week 7, and while Wallace suited up, he did not play a defensive snap against the Seahawks. The Cardinals kept Wallace on the bench despite safety Jalen Thompson missing a second straight game. Tuesday’s transaction points to Cards confidence Thompson, who has missed time with a hamstring injury, returning soon. Arizona also activated rookie cornerback Garrett Williams from the reserve/NFI list last week, creating some secondary depth that was not present during Wallace’s starter run.
The Cardinals signed Qwuantrezz Knight off the 49ers’ practice squad upon placing Baker on IR; Knight remains with the team, joining Joey Blount as Arizona’s backup safeties.
“It was kind of a numbers issue,” Gannon said, via AZCardinals.com’s Darren Urban. “He played some meaningful snaps for us but some guys are getting healthy for us now and everyone is rolling in that room and we are honestly a little heavy there.”
This marked Wallace’s first extended run as a starter, though the Eagles did use him as a three-game starter in 2020 and ’21. He topped out at a 22% defensive snap share during that period, however. Wallace’s 393 defensive snaps this year are by far a career high. His 43 tackles are also second on the Cardinals. Pro Football Focus, though, ranks Wallace outside the top 65 among safeties. The fourth-year defender will hit free agency if unclaimed by the 3pm CT deadline Wednesday.
