NFC South Contract Details: Deablo, Hughes, Rozeboom, Jackson
As we continue to see new details come out for contracts on recent free agency deals, we’ll attempt to corral some of the more important pieces of information here. Specifically, here are some coming from two teams out of the NFC South:
- Divine Deablo, LB (Falcons): Two years, $14MM. The contract, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2, includes $7.66MM of guaranteed money. $6.66MM, including a $6MM signing bonus, is guaranteed at signing, with the remaining $660K coming from his 2025 base salary of $1.66MM. His 2026 base salary of $5.66MM has $1MM guaranteed for injury, which will convert to a full guarantee on the fifth day of the 2026 new league year. Deablo can also earn per game active roster bonuses of $20K for a potential, two-season total of $680K.
- KhaDarel Hodge, WR (Falcons): Two years, $5.5MM. Per Wilson, the deal has a $6MM maximum value and includes $2.51MM in guarantees including a signing bonus of $1.25MM. The remaining $1.26MM of guarantees is Hodge’s 2025 base salary. Like Deablo, Hodge also has a $20K per game active roster bonus for 2026. Unlike Deablo, his 2025 per game active roster bonus is only $15K. Hodge can also earn an additional $500K annual incentive based on playing time and catches.
- Mike Hughes, CB (Falcons): Three years, $18MM. Wilson tells us that Hughes’ new deal has $9.64MM guaranteed at signing including a $5MM signing bonus. The remaining guarantees are comprised of his 2025 ($1.32MM) and 2026 ($3.32MM) base salaries. Hughes’ per game active roster bonus for each year will be $40K.
- Brady Christensen, OL (Panthers): One year, $2.79MM. Per Wilson, Christensen’s deal is fully guaranteed at signing and includes a signing bonus of $167.5K.
- Sam Martin, P (Panthers): One year, $1.6MM. According to Wilson, Martin’s deal is fully guaranteed at signing and includes a $345K signing bonus. The contract also includes incentives up to $1.4MM based on punt average, a Pro Bowl selection, and playoff qualification.
- Christian Rozeboom, LB (Panthers): One year, $2.5MM. Wilson tells us that Rozeboom’s contract includes $1.97MM guaranteed at signing, including a signing bonus of $800K and Rozeboom’s base salary of $1.17MM. Rozeboom can earn $1MM of incentives based on playing time and team performance, and he has a per game active roster bonus of $30K for a potential season total of $510K.
- Michael Jackson, CB (Panthers): Two years, $10.5MM. Per Wilson, Jackson’s new contract includes $7.7MM of total guarantees with $5.7MM guaranteed at signing. $4MM of the initial guarantees come in the form of a signing bonus, while the remaining $1.7MM will come from cash compensation in 2025. The remaining $2MM of total guarantees comes from Jackson’s 2026 salary and becomes fully guaranteed on the third day of the 2026 new league year. The deal includes $2MM of incentives based on playing time and playoff qualification, and he has a per game active roster bonus of $30K. Lastly, Jackson will receive a workout bonus of $20K in 2025 and $40K in 2026.
Panthers, Christian Rozeboom Agree To Deal
Christian Rozeboom enjoyed a breakout season in 2024, and he has landed a new contract early in free agency. The veteran linebacker has agreed to a one-year deal with the Panthers, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Rozeboom, 28, signed with the Rams as a UDFA in 2020. He was waived during final cutdowns that year and ultimately spent the entire season on Los Angeles’ practice squad, though the club saw enough potential to keep him in the fold via a reserve/futures deal once the 2020 campaign ended. A similar fate awaited him in 2021, as he was waived before the start of the regular season and joined the Chiefs’ taxi squad shortly thereafter.
The South Dakota State product would go on to appear in one game for Kansas City in 2021 before the Rams poached him back by signing him to their active roster. He saw action in nine games for LA that year, with all of his snaps coming on special teams. He continued operating almost exclusively in the third phase in 2022 before getting his first real chance on defense in 2023.
That season, Rozeboom appeared in 17 games (five starts), and he enjoyed a 49% snap share. In 2024, he appeared in 17 games (11 starts), converting a 74% snap share into 135 total tackles — a top-20 figure — five tackles for loss, an interception, and a sack. Despite the high tackle totals, the advanced metrics were not high on his work, as Pro Football Focus considered him the 72nd-best LB out of 84 qualifiers and assigned him a roughly average grade against the run with subpar marks in the passing game.
There is some familiarity here, as Panthers DC Ejiro Evero was on the Rams’ defensive staff during Rozeboom’s first two years in the league. He will presumably compete for reps at the middle linebacker spot with incumbents Josey Jewell and Trevin Wallace, and he represents another part of the club’s plan to fortify its defense in free agency.

Irwin gets a crack at a WR3 role in Cincinnati as Tyler Boyd heads to free agency. Irwin also holds experience as the team’s backup return man, filling in last year when Charlie Jones was injured.
Heck rejoins the Texans on a one-year deal worth up to $3.3MM. He’ll add some key depth at an important position.
Rozeboom was a restricted free agent who wasn’t tendered. Regardless, the two sides work out a fully guaranteed deal for 2024.
Feeney joins the Vikings on a one-year deal. Though far removed from a consistent starting role with the Chargers, Feeney has continued to find starts throughout his career as a valuable body off the bench.
The Giants bring in two tight ends without much receiving experience. Manhertz, a veteran whose played for the Panthers from 2016-20, has extensive starting experience as a blocking tight end with 53 starts in his career.

Teams with returning head coaches are now free to begin offseason workouts, leading to this high number of RFA and ERFA tenders being signed. Bryant and Reaves signed the low-end tender, while the Packers gave Nijman a second-round tender. Bryant and Reaves are tied to $2.62MM salaries; Nijman is attached to a $4.3MM number. Nijman has both played left and right tackle, settling in at the latter spot after the Packers moved Elgton Jenkins back to guard last season. ERFAs are two years from unrestricted free agency; RFAs are one year away.
An August shoulder injury cost Williams his 2022 season, but the former second-round pick was trending in the wrong direction with the Patriots. New England chose Williams 45th overall in 2019 but used him as a starter only once. New Vikings DC Brian Flores was no longer with the Pats when they drafted Williams, 25, but the team will take a flier on the Vanderbilt alum.

Rams Activate Von Miller
The Rams have activated Von Miller from the COVID-19 list, per a club announcement. Ditto for running back Jake Funk and linebackers Travin Howard and Christian Rozeboom.

Miller is now eligible to play tonight against the Seahawks, but the Rams will still be playing without several key starters. Right tackle Rob Havenstein, tight end Tyler Higbee, and strong safety Jordan Fuller were not able to test out of protocol, so they’ll be watching from a distance.
Miller, 32, has 110.5 sacks to his credit, more than any other active player in the NFL. He’s still on the hunt for his first Rams sack, though he did notch 4.5 sacks for the Broncos earlier this year. Sacks aside, Miller is still giving quarterbacks fits. As of this writing, Pro Football Focus has Miller ranked as the ninth-best edge defender in the NFL with an 86.6 overall score. That’s just a tick below his finest work in Denver and well ahead of his 2019 showing, a career-low 79.3 mark.
At 9-4, the Rams can more or less clinch their playoff spot with a W over the Seahawks. A win would also bring them one step closer to capturing the NFC West.
Rams Place LB Von Miller, Eight Others On Reserve/COVID-19 List
The Rams have placed nine more players on the reserve/COVID-19 list, including linebacker Von Miller. Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter (on Twitter), the following players have been sidelined:
T Tremayne Anchrum Jr.
- DB Antoine Brooks Jr.
- G Bobby Evans
- DB Jake Gervase
- LB Von Miller
- LB Ogbonnia Okoronkwo
- DB Kareem Orr
- LB Troy Reeder
- LB Christian Rozeboom
The Rams are now up to 25 players on the reserve/COVID-19 list. While the organization will surely activate some players prior to Sunday’s game against the Seahawks, they’ll still have a long list of absences for the contest. Cornerback Jalen Ramsey and wideout Odell Beckham are among the other Rams players who were already stashed on the list.
Yesterday, commissioner Roger Goodell said the NFL wasn’t planning on postponing or cancelling any upcoming games. The Browns and WFT are among the other teams that are dealing with more than 20 players on the COVID list.
