OL Bryan Witzmann Visited Chiefs
Bryan Witzmann had two of his most productive NFL seasons with Kansas City, and the veteran was apparently back in town on Tuesday. Howard Balzer tweets that the lineman visited with the Chiefs today. The team also worked out cornerbacks Kemon Hall and Trevon Mathis.
The former undrafted free agent out of South Dakota State has managed to put together a six-year career, including stints with the Chiefs, Texans, Saints, Cowboys, Vikings, Bears, Browns, Dolphins, and Panthers. He started 13 of his 16 games with the Chiefs in 2017, and he proceeded to appear in 10 games (seven starts) with Chicago in 2018.
Witzmann spent the preseason with the Browns before getting cut in late August. He signed with the Dolphins in mid-September, but was cut less than a week later. He caught on with the Panthers in the end of September, and he went on to appear in two games with Carolina. Witzmann was cut by the Panthers back in November.
Hall, 22, spent much of the preseason with the Chargers. Mathis, 24, had a brief stint with the Vikings organization. The Chiefs currently have three cornerbacks listed on their injury report in Morris Claiborne, Rashad Fenton, and Kendall Fuller.

Steelers Cut Eli Rogers; Reach 53
The Steelers got down to the 53-man max by releasing wide receiver Eli Rogers and a host of other players. Among other notables released 2019 draft picks Sutton Smith (linebacker, sixth round) and Derwin Grey (offensive lineman, seventh round), as well as Marcus Allen, a fifth-round defensive back from the 2018 class.
Rogers came out of nowhere and had a breakout season in 2016, catching 48 passes for 594 yards and three touchdowns in just 13 games. It was a promising debut, but he took a pretty big step backwards the next season when he had just 149 yards and 18 catches. Then in the playoffs, he suffered a torn ACL. The ACL took a long time to recover from, and Rogers didn’t end up making it back until Week 15 of last year.

The Viking announced today that they’ve begun the process of trimming their roster by cutting 14 players. Like all NFL teams, they’ll need to get down to 53 before Saturday afternoon.

The Vikings have agreed to terms with 17 undrafted free agents. Here’s the complete rundown:

Hill received $75K guaranteed in the form of a $15K signing bonus and $60K in base salary, which is the most money received by UDFA since Mike Zimmer became the team’s head coach in 2014, writes Ben Goessling of the Star Tribune.
Robertson received $50K guaranteed with his deal, Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press tweets. The wide receiver caught 76 passes for 1,106 yards for Southern Mississippi last season.
Wieneke, a native of Maple Grove, Minnesota, said this week that he is ecstatic about the opportunity to play for the Vikings.
“It’s the best feeling in the world,’’ said Wieneke (via Tomasson). “I get to stay with the team I grew up loving and I get to stay in Minnesota. It can’t be anything better than this.’’
Dooley received $41K in guaranteed money with an $11K signing bonus and $30K in base salary.
Hill may be the most intriguing prospect of the bunch. The cornerback was suspended by Texas for the last month of the season for reasons that are still unknown. In terms of talent, he was regarded as a draftable player.
Meanwhile, running backs Thomas and Boone and fullback/running back Pettway have a reach chance at making the roster after the Vikings declined to select a running back over the weekend. After the departure of Jerick McKinnon, there are no other running backs to support Dalvin Cook and Latavius Murray.
