Lions To Host Andrew Adams
The Lions will host former Tampa Bay safety Andrew Adams on a free agent visit on Thursday, according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press (Twitter link). Adams had four interceptions last season, but he did not receive a restricted free agent tender from the Bucs.

Adams played for Lions defensive coordinator Paul Pasqualoni at UConn, so he could be a natural fit in Detroit. The addition of Adams could also help replace Glover Quin, who was released in February.
Adams, a former undrafted free agent, compiled nine passes defended and 38 tackles in 2018, giving him his third-straight season with at least 30 tackles. On the flip side, he ultimately ranked 78th in Pro Football Focus‘ safety rankings, and he earned his worst score in three years.
Buccaneers Won’t Tender S Andrew Adams
The Buccaneers have decided to move on from one of their top safeties. Greg Auman of The Athletic reports (via Twitter) that the team won’t be tendering restricted free agent safety Andrew Adams.
It’s a bit of a surprising development for the 26-year-old, who led the Buccaneers with four interceptions last season. The former undrafted free agent also compiled nine passes defended and 38 tackles, his third-straight season with at least 30 tackles. On the flip side, he ultimately ranked 78th in Pro Football Focus‘ safety rankings, and he earned his worst score in three years
Ultimately, the team decided that the $2.05MM tender value was too much. However, Auman cautions that the organization could look to bring Adams back at a lesser value. That could be a good decision for defensive coordinator Todd Bowles and the Buccaneers coaching staff, as former starter Chris Conte is set to his free agency.
The Buccaneers currently have three safeties under contract for the 2019 season: Jordan Whitehead, Justin Evans, and M.J. Stewart.

Giants Lock In 53-Man Roster
The Giants will head into the 2018 season without one of their longest-tenured players and one of their 2017 starting safeties, with both Mark Herzlich and Darian Thompson failing to make the team.
A 2017 fifth-round pick, edge defender Avery Moss missed out as well. As did Roger Lewis, a wideout who became needed when the Giants became decimated at receiver last season.
The Giants also released recently signed cornerback Leonard Johnson, who was trying to make a fifth NFL franchise’s 53-man roster. The former Buccaneer, Patriot, Panther and Bill started seven games with Buffalo last season.

Giants Promote Andrew Adams, Waive Michael Hunter
The Giants have swapped one rookie defensive back for another. James Kratch of NJ Advance Media reports (via Twitter) that the team has promoted safety Andrew
Adams and waived cornerback Michael Hunter. The pair of moves are an attempt to replace safeties Mykkele Thompson and Darian Thompson, who are both struggling through injuries.
Waiving Hunter is a bit of a curious move, especially since the team promoted the rookie earlier this week. As ESPN’s Jordan Raanan tweets, the Giants’ indecisiveness ultimately cost the team $26K in salary. The undrafted rookie out of Oklahoma State could be re-signed to the Giants practice squad as soon as Monday, reports Ralph Vacchiano of SNY (via Twitter).
Adams is an undrafted rookie out of UConn. In 44 career games with the Huskies, the safety compiled 263 tackles and nine interceptions. As Roster Resource shows, Adams will be joining safeties Thompson, Landon Collins, and Nat Berhe.

Giants Down To 53
The Giants started their cuts early this morning by cutting a handful of big wide receivers and went from there. French wide receiver Anthony Dable and Cal product Darius Powe are among those who have been shown the door.
Dable played professionally in Grenoble, France and also spent the last two seasons in Germany. With his German Football League team, Dable caught 145 passes for just under 2,500 yards and 32 touchdowns over the last two campaigns. Although he did not grow up in a football-heavy atmosphere, he learned the game by watching others from afar.
“I learned football by watching videos of the receivers I like on YouTube, and I like guys that are the same size as me, like Brandon Marshall,” Dable said. “I think I play like Brandon Marshall. I like how he moves after the catch, with his size.”
Powe, a 6’3″ receiver, saved his best season for last at Cal. As a senior, Powe hauled in 47 catches for 560 yards and 8 touchdowns.
We’ll keep a running list of the Giants’ moves here. All of these moves have been confirmed via team press release.
